It won’t kill me…right?

I can’t tell you how many times when I have a conversation with someone about how unhealthy certain things are for them, they say “Well that one little thing isn’t going to kill me.” To some extent, I agree. Sure, that pesticide covered apple by itself won’t give you cancer, but how about all the pesticide covered fruits and vegetables that you ate or will eat in your lifetime? What people don’t realize is that doing one thing won’t make you sick or kill you, it’s the accumulation of things you do that will. You don’t realize how many chemicals you expose yourself to in one day. Here’s a list off the top of my head:

Toothpaste
Soap (bar, liquid, dish)
Shampoo/Conditioner
Hairspray/gel/mousse
Lotion
Make-up
Nail Polish
Laundry Detergent
Scratched Teflon pots and pans
Household cleaners
Hair Dye
Cigarettes
Microwaving food in plastic containers
Canned food
Processed food
Artificial sweeteners
Pesticides on fruits/veges
Hormones/Steroids/Antibiotics in meats and dairy products
Farm raised fish
Pollution

How do you expect your body to defend itself constantly from all this? After reading this some of you still may say, “I’ve done fine so far.” It’s definitely your choice to take on that gamble, but are you willing to take that gamble on your family….your kids who are trying to build their immune systems…..your pets? If my dog is bad and drinks from the toilet, I’m happy to know he didn’t drink a bunch of chemicals because I clean my toilet with white vinegar and baking soda, not some blue cleaner. And yes, it’s very clean lol.

There are organic or all natural versions of almost everything listed above. Obviously don’t smoke. Just a few quick notes….

Had me going

It’s best took cook with stainless steel pots and pans or unscratched teflon
If you have to microwave your food, use glass not plastic tupperware to heat your food in
Buy wild caught fish from the USA
Buy organic meat, chicken, dairy, fruits and veges
Don’t eat or drink anything that has artificial sweeteners in them

It’s overwhelming to change everything at once, so try one thing a week or whatever you can handle.

I went to Shoprite and bought 24 little neck clams and made some Italian bread. I also made a quick salad just to have a little something extra. This is a very flavorful and different dish. Psycho Tacos

Have you ever been stuck for what to make for dinner so you throw a bunch of ingredients together and hope for the best. Sometimes you’re a mad scientist and it’s really bad and then there are the times that you are a genius and it tastes great! I have definitely been the mad scientist, where you sit there and eat this horrible concoction and you keep trying to tell yourself it’s not so bad. So this one time, I got lucky. Cajun Chicken Salad

A lot of people that I speak with that are trying to lose weight think they are doing the right thing by eating a salad when they go out to lunch or dinner. What they don’t realize is that salads in places like Chili’s as an example have tons of extra calories, fat, preservatives and salt. Blueberry Pancakes

Let me start out by saying I know pancakes aren’t healthy. but if you eat Bisquick pancakes with Aunt Jemima syrup and butter, then this is a healthy alternative. We’re going to make homemade blueberry pancakes with maple syrup and organic butter. I grew up on Bisquick pancakes and yes they taste great, but the ingredients aren’t so good….just like with many foods that taste great.
